Cut Out The Darkness is a global project organized by Panasonic and Behance Japan Tokyo Community.The idea is to make artists and designers from all over the world gather together and create a shade for solar lanterns especially for people that have no access to electricity. The theme this time is 'Luminary Zoo'.
I've got the invitation via Twitter by Behance Japan to participate in this project. Since the first moment of flipping through the rules and other's works I thought - I'm in! Not only because I am an artist and take joy from drawing. But also because each of us has a dream of being a superhero. Even this little contribution makes me feel like I can become a superhero to someone.
Perhaps, the hardest part for me was to pick up an animal. Well, it definitely was something I couldn't do easily. A plenty of unique creatures to choose from! Well, I've selected the best I could think of - a peacock! Seeing that I love depicting small details, this was exactly what I needed. The concept was to present the peacock in 3 different phases - with the opened tail (center), half-closed (right) and closed (left) to make everyone see that these birds are amazing in any condition. Designing the ornaments wasn't that easy, though. Anyways, I think I've done this work pretty well!

Well, I am glad I've participated in the competition. It was a great experience for me and nice addition to portfolio, too.
